CAMHI successfully holds an Online Working Meeting with the Hellenic Ministry of Education

On Monday, July 21, 2025, the Child & Adolescent Mental Health Initiative (CAMHI) successfully held an online working meeting with representatives of the Ministry of Education and key education stakeholders. The meeting had a technical focus and aimed to present the Basic Training Program on Mental Health Literacy for Children and Adolescents and its proposed implementation framework, in collaboration with the relevant services of the Ministry.

The session brought together Regional Supervisors of Education Quality, as well as Education Advisors for School Psychologists and Social Workers, who play a vital role in advancing mental health initiatives within the school community.

Agenda Highlights

The meeting began with introductory remarks from Stavros Niarchos Foundation (SNF), the CAMHI Director, Dr. Anastasia Koumoula and the Head of Special Education and Training of the Ministry of Education, Religious Affairs and Sports, Mr. Ioannis Mpousdounis who emphasized the importance of coordinated efforts between the educational and health sectors in supporting the mental health of children and adolescents.

Dr. Anastasia Koumoula provided an overview of CAMHI’s programs and its core objectives. This was followed by Evangelini (Lilian) Athanasopoulou, Director and Coordinator at the Child & Adolescent Psychiatry Unit of G.N.T. “G. Papanikolaou,” who presented the structure and goals of the Basic Training Program, highlighting its role in strengthening mental health literacy among educators.

A particularly engaging segment, “Local Experience & Impact,” featured contributions from distinguished academics and clinicians, members of CAMHI’s Scientific Steering Committee, who shared insights from regional implementation and the program’s impact on educational communities.

The meeting concluded with an open discussion and feedback exchange regarding the next steps, reinforcing the shared commitment to effective nationwide implementation.
